A NOTE TO PATRONS
People collect art for both enjoyment and investment; the higher an artists prices, the more desirable their art. Yet what of the successful artist, me included, who has had to temporarily reduce prices this year? The upside of hard times means this is an excellent time to invest in Art. The new economy encourages creative opportunities for acquisition, including purchasing art via installments and barter. Taking sales prices out of the equation affords collectors the chance to consider a more holistic assessment of an artists worth, including an appreciation of their place in the community and what they stand for in addition to reviews, publications and honors. Collectors of my Art will be pleased to know my painting "Ballerina” was prominently featured in the July 2009 issue of ELLE DECOR (pages 69-72.)
"To make art with all the questions answered deprives the viewer of the joy of participating in the act of creation. The choices I make between figuration and abstraction, between what is implied and what is revealed, serve to pull the viewer into the paintings surface and leave them with questions. My work is about transforming the mistake . In my process, I re-use old paintings, actively damaging the surface to give each a history. My hope is to affirm a more authentic concept of beauty while making paintings which retain an evocation of mystery."
